Srinagar : Indian Army soldiers shot dead four intruders along the Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir's Kupwara district Thursday afternoon.
Police said troops of the 7 Jammu and Kashmir Rifles foiled an intrusion bid by a group of heavily armed militants in Tilpatri Gagal Dora village near the border in Keran sector.
"Four militants were killed in the fierce gunbattle that continued till late afternoon," a police spokesman here said.
Union defence secretary Shekhar Dutt arrived here Thursday afternoon on a two-day visit to review the situation in Kashmir.
