Islamabad : The Pakistani Ministry of Health has mobilized four disease surveillance teams for the flood affected areas of Sindh and Balochistan.
According to official sources, 6000 vials of Anti Snake Venum (ASV) are being procured by the Ministry of Health which will be available within the next 48 hours.
Similarly, medical teams of 130 doctors have been sent to Turbat, Balochistan while on request of Balochistan, the Ministry of Health has dispatched first batch of medicines.
A team of Ministry of Health is also conducting assessment in the affected areas of NWFP.
As many as 40 snake bite cases have been reported to different health facilities of affected areas in Balochistan while 140 cases of Acute Watery Diarrhea (AWD) reported to health facilities in Lasbela. All the patients have been given treatment.
A total 887 patients of AWD reported to different hospitals of Karachi, out of which 52 cases were admitted and the rest were discharged after treatment.
923 patients of AWD reported to different hospitals in other parts of Sindh, out of which 268 cases were admitted. 276 snake bite cases are reported in Sindh. ASV has been administered to the patients.
WHO has provided one trauma kit, one basic health kit and 20,000 chlorine tablets to Health Department of Jhal Magsi. Similarly, two trauma kits, one basic health kits and 20000 chlorine tablets to Health Department Jaffarabad, one trauma kit, one basic health kit and 10000 chlorine tablets to Health Department Nasirabad while one trauma kit, two basic health kits and 10000 chlorine tablets to Health Department Kambar.
The Ministry of Health is coordinating health response to the flood-affected areas and has established Health Emergency and Preparedness Response (HEPR) Cell that is working round the clock.
