New Delhi : Amid the political crisis over the India-US civil nuclear deal, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Tuesday met President Pratibha Patil.
During the almost hour-long meeting, the two also discussed national and international developments, said a statement from the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
According to presidential palace officials, Manmohan Singh discussed the political deadlock over the nuclear deal with the president.
The Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government is facing a crisis after its Left allies threatened to withdraw their legislative support if it went ahead with the nuclear deal.
“They also discussed the prime minister’s forthcoming visit to Japan to attend the G-8 summit,” the statement said.
The prime minster leaves Sunday for the July 7-9 summit.
