New Delhi : As newspapers and magazines are loaded with reports and articles on the staged encounter killing of Sohrabuddin Sheikh and eliminating his wife Kauser Bi, Urdu daily Hindustan Express columnist Ahmad Javed in his celebrated column Fikr-e-Farda wrote an article Sunday entitled "Only Modi and Vanzara aren't the murderer of Sohrab" and ran a slug: If you have to save India, devise the remedy of the hate mentality which is taking shape of Modi or Vanzara.
Citing two crime related cases, the columnist concludes that the law and order machinery has turned highly communal.
In a recent case a team of Crime Branch of Delhi Police detained Boby Ahuja, an accused of lifting a car, in Meerut and rushed to the capital. But after the mounting protest by locals and subsequent intervention of high police officials of Meerut, Ahuja was taken back to Meerut and the Delhi police team had to apologise though it claims to have solid proof of Ahuja's lifting a car.
In a January 2004 case a team of Crime Branch of Gujarat police headed by DIG Narendra Ameen arrested Maulana Naseeruddin in Hyderabad for allegedly preparing to establish an Islamic state in India. When the locals started protesting against the arrest of Maulana Naseer the police team opened fire which claimed the life of 19-year old Muslim youth Muhammad Mujahid on the spot.
"If you have to save India, you will have to fight not only against Modi and Vanzara but the poisoned mentality, which makes men enemy of fellow humans. Until and unless we do not wage an open war against this thinking, the process of poisoning the minds will not come to an end. Until and unless some people come forward to protect humanity instead of playing the dirty game of secularism and democracy, this poisonous mentality will continue to flourish, the Modis and Vanzaras will continue to tarnish the face of India with the blood of the innocent," he writes.
