Panama : Magalys Llord, mother of one of the five Cuban antiterrorists jailed in the US since 1998, insisted today in Panama the struggle for the release of the Cuban Five should continue.
Few times in history you see men who have made such a life-saving sacrifice be sentenced in such a cruel way, Llord told the media.
Fernando Gonzalez” mother, who is also a member of the Cuban National Assembly (Parlament), arrived in Panama to attend a continental parliamentary meeting of solidarity with Cuba and for the freedom of the Five.
The meeting is being held only a few days after the Supreme Court of Panama overturned a pardon granted in 2004 to Luis Posada Carriles and other three terrorists of Cuban origin.
Posada Carriles and his group are walking the streets of Miami in absolute freedom while our five sons are serving unjust and cruel time for 10 years now, said.
Llord said human rights of the Five and their relatives are being violated.
She recalled Olga Salanueva and Adriana Pérez, wives of René González and Gerardo Hernández respectively, are the ones who have suffered these violations the most, because they have been banned from visiting their husbands since they were arrest ed in Miami in September 12, 1998.
MP”s from Latin America and the Caribbean celebrate a meeting today in Panama to launch the world campaign to free the five Cuban antiterrorist fighters.
The meeting will be attended by Ricardo Alarcón, president of the People”s Power National Assembly.
Legislators will also discuss an action plan for solidarity groups supporting the freedom of the Five and requesting a fare treatment for their relatives.
