Tokyo : Without having fulfilled old commitments of financial help a year ago, the group of the eight more industrialized countries of the world (G-8) reiterated old promises to support Africa.
In accordance with the draft of the Final Declaration of the event that will conclude Wednesday, authorities of the United States, Germany, France, Great Britain, Italy, Canada and Russia, expressed this time they will make the agreements effective.
Meeting in the Japanese island of Hokkaido, the G-8 confirmed its obligation of duplicating the help to Africa for 2010, and it expressed its disposition to examine the new increase.
The leaders of this group the leaders from Algeria, Ethiopia, Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa and Tanzania Tuesday, and also with the president of the African Union, Jean Ping, United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki Moon, and others.
Of the 50 billion dollars for help to the poor countries promised two years ago by the G-8 in Scotland for the year 2010, just 11 billion dollars have been effectively used.
