Normal life remains paralysed in Jammu, outskirts

Jammu : Barring few protests demonstrations, the curfew relaxation announced by the district administration today passed off peacefully and no untoward incident was reported from any part of winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir.

Sources informed News Agency of Kashmir that the authorities extended the curfew restrictions to a fourteen hours duration, which passed off peaceful in the city and its outskirts. However, normal life remained paralyzed for ninth consecutive day today as public transport remained off the road.

Sources added that after the relaxation in curfew hours, people rushed to purchase essential commodities and long queues were seen for petrol and diesel at the filling stations.

Keeping in view the improvement in situation in Jammu city after remaining tense for at least ten days, the district administration had announced the six hours relaxation in curfew restrictions under the jurisdiction of ten police stations on Tuesday, said reports adding that the relaxation hours were extended till 8:00 p.m this evening.

However, reports said that some protestors took to streets at Purani Mandi area this afternoon and forced shopkeepers to keep their shutter close. Reports added that the protestors also took out a peaceful protest rally at Gangyal and demanded cancellation of revoked land transfer order.

“A day after the fall of Azad led state government, all commercial and business establishments remained opened throughout the day in Kathua, Samba and Udhampur and no incident of violence was reported from these areas,” maintained reports, adding that situation is improving in all violence hit districts.

It was reliably learnt that district administration has lifted curfew in entire Kathua, However section 144 will continue for next fifteen days.

It may be mentioned here that hundreds of people were arrested and injured in the week-long agitation in Jammu region against the state government for revoking order of transfer of land to the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board.

Meanwhile the Jammu Tankers association has resumed their services to Kashmir valley and over 150 tankers left for Kashmir this morning.
