Seven injured in car-Tempo crash in Delhi

New Delhi : Seven people were injured in a road accident in Tagore Garden area of the capital, the police said Sunday.

According to police, a group of labourers was returning from work in a Tempo late Saturday when a Honda City car coming from the wrong lane rammed into the vehicle sideways in west Delhi. Due to the impact, the Tempo driver lost control and hit the pavement and the vehicle turned turtle.

The passengers, including two women, were trapped inside and were taken out with the help of local people. They were taken to the Deen Dayal Upadhayaya Hospital where their condition was described as not serious. They were discharged later, a police official said.

The victims identified as Ganesh, Rama Devi, Naresh, Dayal, Ramesh, Suresh and driver Dharmaveer suffered minor injuries.

“The car driver, Puneet Garg (23), was arrested. Puneet is a resident of west Delhi and is a businessman. He was returning home from his office when the accident took place. He was driving at high speed,” the police official added.

The car was impounded and a case was registered against Garg.
