New Delhi : A real estate agent was gunned down by motorcycle-borne assailants in West Delhi over personal rivalry, police said Monday, ruling out the involvement of a biker gang responsible for a series of shootings this month.
Sandeep Rana, 31, was drinking with his friend Joginder in a deserted area near his house in Sector-24, Rohini when three unidentified men came on a two-wheeler and shot him dead late Sunday.
The attackers approached the two men and asked what they were doing in a secluded place late at night, a police official said.
“According to Joginder’s statement, a scuffle broke out and one of them took out a pistol and fired at Rana,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (outer Delhi) Sagarpreet Hooda told IANS.
Rana, who was shot in the chest, was taken to the Jaipur Golden Hospital where doctors declared him dead. Joginder was unhurt.
Hooda ruled out any involvement of the biker gang led by Om Prakash alias Bunty that has killed four people on the city roads in the last two weeks. He said Rana’s killing could be because of some personal enmity.
“There is no biker gang active in my district,” Hooda said.
The biker gang has created a sense of fear among residents and Delhi Police Commissioner Y.S. Dadwal last week announced a reward of Rs.250,000 on the arrests of the gang members.
