Egyptian president asserts Arab identity on n-day

Cairo : Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak underscored on Tuesday his country’s commitment to its national responsibilities and stressed Egypt shall always stand behind and support Arab nations, noting there is global discontent over what he termed “injustices.” Egypt shall spare no effort to restore stability in the region, Mubarak said in a televised address to the nation as it marked 56th anniversary of the 1952 revolution, also known as the July 23 Revolution.

President Mubarak recalled the many developments since 1952, stressing a firm stance to defend the Arab nation’s people and their interests against terrorism and extremism. He also stressed on the importance of maintaining unity of the state’s Muslims and Copts.

President Mubarak said his nation is set on a course of reform, and is to mainly focus on issues of food crisis, water and power demand, investment, and job opportunities.

He sounded the alarm saying the population tripled since 1952 but this was not met by increase in production and yield of resources made accessible to the people.
