Kathmandu : The Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) (CPN-M) Tuesday officially decided not to join the post-election government, its chairman Prachanda announced the decision at a press conference in Kathmandu.
A meeting of the CPN-Maoist Secretariat held Tuesday came up with the decision to stay in opposition and concluded that the other political parties are forming alliance against the CPN-M.
Emerging from the meeting, Prachanda told journalists that his party decided to revoke its earlier decision to form a new government.
The CPN-Maoist, which was disappointed after its candidate lost the presidential race, had warned to stay out of the government after lawmakers rejected Ram Raja Prasad Singh in Monday ‘s presidential run-off election.
Earlier, the CPN-Maoist, which won the most seats in April 10 Constituent Assembly (CA) elections, was poised to form a new government after it became the largest party in the CA poll.
