Lucknow : The Uttar Pradesh State AIDS Control Society (UPSACS) will establish new anti-retroviral therapy centres (ARTCs) in 25 districts to deliver AIDS medicine to sufferers at home, said an official here Wednesday.
With the establishment of the new therapy centres, the medicines to people living with HIV/AIDS could be delivered at their homes, UPSACS project director S.P. Goel told IANS.
“At present they have to go to the ARTC located at the district hospital. The new ARTCs will be established in residential areas”, he said.
The therapy centres will also be entrusted with the task of identifying those carrying the AIDS virus and keeping a record. “This will help in keeping track of the sufferer and spare him the trouble to go to the hospital as help will be available at home,” he said.
