Gaza : Police of ruling Hamas movement in Gaza Strip has banned on Monday the circulation of three major Palestinian dailies in the strip, a Hamas interior ministry statement said.
The three major Palestinian dailies, al-Quds, al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida, which are printed in West Bank, were allowed by Israel through Erez crossing on the border between northern Gaza Strip and Israel.
The Palestinian Journalists Union in West Bank said that after the Israeli army allowed the entrance of the dailies into Gaza, Hamas police forces prevented the circulation of the dailies all over Gaza Strip.
The interior ministry said in a statement that preventing the circulation of the three major dailies came after they were not showing fair coverage to the bombing attack on a Hamas militants’ car on Friday near Gaza beachside.
On Friday evening, five Islamic Hamas militants and a child were killed in a bombing attack at a car on Gaza city beachside. Hamas has directly accused Fatah movement of President Mahmoud Abbas for being behind the attack.
The three dailies, which published the news on the bombing the following day, quoted Palestinian officials of Fatah movement in Ramallah as saying that the bombing was due to internal conflict in Hamas movement.
Following the attack, Hamas cracked down on Fatah movement and its members. According to the Palestinian Center for Human Rights, more than 160 Fatah members were arrested and several institutions were stormed.
Hamas police forces also stormed during the past few days the main office of the state-run news agency “Wafa” that belongs directly to President Mahmoud Abbas.
Fatah spokesman in West Bank Ahmed Abdel Rahman said that Hamas practices on the ground in Gaza Strip had undermined all hopes for the resumption of a comprehensive national dialogue to end the status of division.
