Delhi government’s nod for software park, extension of hospital

New Delhi : The Delhi government Monday gave its nod for the second phase construction of the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS) and setting up of a science and technology Park here.

The state cabinet also approved release of Rs 3.2 billion to Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) for construction of parking area over covered drains for 576 buses.

“Phase-II of ILBS shall include an academic block, research block, clinical block, residential block, support services, Delhi Organ Retrieval & Banking Organization (DORBO) and additional capacity of beds in two general wards and ICU,” Dikshit told reporters after the meeting.

The institute at Vasant Kunj would also be equipped with the facility of a helipad to deal with emergency situations.

The estimated cost for Phase-II construction, spread over an area of 6.575 acres, would be Rs.2.23 billion and the project would be completed within two years.

Dikshit said that the ILBS, a 280-bed super-specialty autonomous institute, is being set up as a world-class, state-of-art facility for diagnosis, treatment and dedicated research in the field of liver and biliary diseases.

Dikshit said the cabinet has also approved a proposal for setting up of a Science & Technology Park on Public-Private-Partnership model at Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology (NSIT) Campus in Dwarka.

The park would be fully developed over a period of 3-4 years.

The National Association of Software Service Companies (Nasscom) and its associated consultants have assessed over 20 potential areas of research for this park, which include biotechnology, information and communication technology.

“This park is envisaged to house research and development units of Indian and multi-national companies and to serve as a knowledge hub in the national capital region,”Dikshit added.

The cabinet also decided to release an amount of Rs 3.2 billion to the MCD for covering of the Kushak Nallah and Sunehri Bagh Nallah for construction of parking area for 576 buses during the Commonwealth Games. The work is expected to complete by March 2010.
