Ahmedabad : Six-year-old Mohammad Idris and 12-year-old Rohan Vyas succumbed to the injuries they sustained when serial blasts ripped through this industrial hub of Gujarat, raising the toll in the terror attack to 53, doctors said Friday.
Idris and his mother Sukrabanu had gone to Narol Chowkdi Saturday, when a bomb exploded in the area, injuring them grievously. The blast was one of the 21 that ripped through the city.
Idris and Sukrabanu were rushed to V.S. Hospital. A few splinters had pierced his brain but doctors ruled out an operation due to his critical condition. He died Thursday evening. Doctors said Sukrabanu is out of danger but has been traumatised by the death of her son.
Rohan, who had suffered severe burns during the bomb blasts, also died Thursday at the Civil Hospital.
Rohan was with his father Dushyant and his younger brother Yash, 9, in the parking lot of the Civil Hospital’s trauma centre when the blast occurred. Dushyant, who worked as a lab technician in the hospital, was killed on the spot while the children had suffered burns.
On Thursday, Rohan was put on a ventilator as he could not breathe. His condition worsened and he died later in the afternoon. Yash was shifted to Apollo Hospital since his condition had deteriorated, doctors said.
