Dhaka : 10 people were killed and 15 others were injured in a fire accident in Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka early Monday morning, fire brigade said.
A fire official on duty said the fire started from a chemical shop which is in the ground floor of a 7-story building after Sunday midnight.
It took one and half hours for the fire brigade to extinguish the fire.
The official said the fire went up to the fourth floor of the building and many residents who live in the building rushed out of their homes and caused stampede.
“Some people were injured during the stampede,” he said.
The reason of the fire is not known yet. An investigation is underway.
However, local people were quoted by private news agency UNB assaying that the fire originated from burning candle light during power outage.
The news agency reported the deceased, who were residents of the building, include six male, two female and two children.
