Panchkula (Haryana) : At least 30 people were arrested Tuesday following a clash between two communities in Raipur Rani township near here that left over a dozen people injured.
The clash took place between members of two communities during a marriage function at Hangoli village, 30 km from here.
People of one community who live in a slum area in Hangoli village had ordered meat for a private party, a police official said.
“The situation became tense when people from the other community residing in the same locality claimed that they have ordered beef (cow’s meat) for the party while party organisers claimed that they have ordered mutton,” said Satpal, station head officer of Raipur Rani police station.
A clash followed, in which over a dozen people received minor injuries.
“We have sent the meat samples to the forensic lab,” said Satpal.
