Srinagar : Tension gripped the city again Friday hours after the official Independence Day function passed off peacefully as five protesters were wounded in firing when a mob attacked a paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) bunker.
The mob attacked the CRPF bunker at Habba Kadal in the old city area here, 3 km from city centre Lal Chowk, Friday afternoon.
“The mob attacked the bunker and the CRPF jawans opened fire to disperse them,” a senior police official said here.
The five injured have been admitted to the SMHS hospital in the city.
After the incident, some people started taking out procession in different parts of the city.
At least 22 people were killed and more than 300 injured, including policemen, in the violence that has erupted in the city in the wake of the Amarnath land transfer row.
