Kozhikode : Fake currency with a nominal value of Rs.7.5 million was seized from a passenger at the Kozhikode International Airport Saturday.
Officials of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) took Muhammed Alsab into custody.
Alsab had arrived on a RAK Airways flight from the emirate of Ras al-Khaimah in United Arab Emirates, a DRI official here said.
The currencies seized are of Rs.1,000 and Rs.500 denominations. Alsab is reported to be a native of Thrissur district in Kerala.
Airport officials said that DRI sleuths also took into custody three persons who came to receive Alsab, outside the airport terminal. The DRI, however, refused to confirm this.
