Ahmadabad: The relatives of the accused in the Ahmadabad serial bomb blasts have alleged that the state police is torturing their relatives in custody. Moreover the state police have threatened them not to speak any thing about it in the court otherwise the police will implicate their other relatives also in fake cases, they have alleged.
In an affidavit submitted in the court, Shazia Mansuri, the wife of
Sajid Mansuri, the accused in Ahmadabad blasts, has said that the police has beaten him so mercilessly that his leg has been broken as it was clear when he was presented in the court. But in spite of this her husband couldn’t say anything when the judge repeatedly asked whether he is having any problem in the police remand.
She has further alleged in the affidavit that he is not being given
any kind of medical treatment. She has also mentioned in her affidavit that how she and her child were forcibly sent to Surat.
Moreover on Monday all the 10 accused were presented in the court. The government lawyer objected to the suggestion by the defense lawyer that the Court should meet the accused in its chamber to verify the statements by the accused, says a report in the Urdu daily Inquilab.
Zahida, wife of Shamsuddin Shaikh, another accused in the Ahmadabad blasts has alleged the same in her affidavit submitted in the court.
She has alleged that when she went to meet her husband on August 13,2008 in the crime branch police station, the police officer G.S. Singhal asked her not to attempt for any kind of legal defense of her husband. He also told her not to file any complain.
Alleging that her husband has been wrongly implicated in the case she has described how the police officers were pressurizing him to accept his involvement in the blast.
She has also alleged harassment and insult by the police personal,explaining how they insulted her and her two year old child by calling him a SIMI member.
She has requested in the affidavit that her husband be sent for a
medical exam as he didn’t seem physically and mentally well.
