In its June 29 post on the FB account the channel enlisted 50 names of the fugitives claiming the list to be ‘India’s Most wanted’ and in the end asked “What do one understand after reading the list?”

List contained all Muslim names so the most obvious inference one was assumed to draw after reading the list was that ‘Terrorism’ or ‘Crime’ is connected with Islam. Within a week the post attracted 752 likes and was shared by 438.

The post also immediately saw number of comments pouring in expressing anger against Islam and criticizing its followers. Some users even posted derogatory images of Muslims’ holy structure Kaba and Arabic word ‘Allah’.

Instantaneously, the post went viral on Facebook and WhatsApp with the provocation in the end as “Who says there is no religion to Terrorism?”

After going through the list, TwoCircles.net has found out that the list mentioned in Sudarshan channel’s post is the list of 50 fugitives purportedly hiding in Pakistan that was given to Pakistan by Indian government during the home secretary-level talks between the two countries in March 2011.

The list certainly does not pertain to today’s top wanted criminals but was the specific list that India four years back alleged were sheltering in Pakistan. Some of these criminals were subsequently arrested by Indian agencies such as Syed Zabiuddin Jabi alias Abu Jindal was arrested in 2012 from Saudi Arabia.

Illyas Kashmiri was alleged to have been killed in 2012 by a US drone attack in the tribal belt on the border of Pakistan – Afghanistan.

Also, going by the records of India’s elite National Investigation agency (NIA), the designated agency to probe terrorism cases shows on its wanted list as many as 20 non-Muslim faces are sought in terrorism cases.

Therefore, the June 29, 2015 post by Sudarshan channel is an apparent mischievous attempt to spread misinformation against Muslim community and to ignite emotions of other community against Muslims and thereby disturb communal harmony prevailing in the society.
