“We have a timetable for discussions. So, the discussions go on at the official level. Allthough there are no one-on-one discussions, they do it via teleconferencing and e-mail. Sometimes, certain issues do not need a formal meeting,” she told reporters after the launch of DHL’s SME Logistics Solutions programme here.

She was asked whether there was any impact on the FTA talks with the United States due to Parliament having been dissolved last week.

On the logistics industry, Rafidah said presently there were about 22,000 companies involved in the industry in Malaysia.

Currently, the Malaysian logistics industry comprises largely of single specialised service providers such as freight forwarders, transport companies and warehousing companies, she said.

She also said that the Malaysia Logistics Council has been established to strengthen and promote logistics services.
