Chinese diplomats in Bangladesh brief local students on China issues

Dhaka : The Chinese Embassy to Bangladesh held a discussion here Sunday with the Independent University of Bangladesh (IUB), one of the famous private universities in the country, on issues of China.

Mu Yongpeng, head of the political section of the embassy, briefed the students and teachers of the university on the achievements China has achieved during the last 30 years since its reform and opening-up policy was implemented in the late 1970s.

IUB Vice Chancellor Bazlul Mobin Chowdhury said while addressing the discussion that China is a big country and fast-developing country.

Chowdhury said to hold the Beijing Olympics has proved China’s ability.

Wang Yu, Charge d’affaires of the Chinese Embassy, answered several questions proposed by the students like Chinese’ economic development vision, China’s efforts for poverty alleviation and Taiwan issue.

The IUB, which was established in 1993, has around 3,000 students.
