Disaster management control room this evening reported the fresh toll saying the highest number of deaths was recorded in northern Tangail followed by 25 in Sirajganj and 22 in Jamalpur.

Reports from affected areas said post-flood diseases apparently started to tighten their grips afflicted so far nearly 45,000 people, of them 31,972 in diarrohea, 6,032 in respiratory ailments and 5,679 in skin diseases as the affected areas are faced with acute shortage of pure water and unhealthy atmosphere.

The diarrhoea, however, claimed only four lives as a total of 2791 government medical teams were mobilised to prevent outbreak of diseases.

The reports said erosion of riverbanks continued to leave marks of the flood blight sending hundreds homeless.

The disaster management ministry today said according to their updated report, 89,048 homes were washed away while the gushing waters damaged 790,588.

The government earlier said it planned to launch a special agriculture loan asking banks to stand by the farmers to cover the huge crop losses as the officials estimated that the deluge completely damaged standing crops on 598,000 acres of land and partially damaged crops on 568,000 acres.
