New Delhi : Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Wednesday called on his immediate predecessor Atal Bihari Vajpayee at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here to inquire about his health.
According to AIIMS sources, Manmohan Singh went to the hospital at around 12.30 p.m. and spent some 10 minutes with Vajpayee, who was admitted to there Tuesday after he complained of giddiness and drowsiness.
“The prime minister inquired about Vajpayeeji’s health from our doctors and also interacted with him,” said a senior doctor of the institute.
The condition of the 83-year-old Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader was stable and satisfactory, AIIMS medical superintendent D.K. Sharma told IANS.
“All his vital signs are functioning normally. His food intake is regular and he even met a few visitors yesterday,” Sharma said, adding that he had been advised complete rest for a few days.
The official said Vajpayee would be discharged after a thorough investigation, but did not specify when.
“He is under close observation by a team of cardiologists, neurologists and physicians. We have already conducted a series of investigations. A few more are in the pipeline,” Sharma said.
