Ramallah : The Palestinian provisional government led by Prime Minister Salam Fayyad has launched a three-year economic plan for the period between 2008 and 2010.
“The plan is to be put forward to donor countries in an expanded meeting with their delegates in December,” Fayyad said at a workshop hosted by the Palestinian Planning Ministry. The objective of the meeting was to secure funding for that plan by the donor states, he said.
He stressed that representatives of all ministries would attend the meeting in order to lay down their requirements and added that the annual budget of the Palestinian Authority would be part and parcel of the new plan.
He expressed hope that the three-year plan would be part of the development plan and would provide a “vision for each separate government department.”
He added that previous attempts were made to link the budget to development plans. But the attempts were “not as comprehensive as the present time,” he said.
He expected the first phase of the new plan to be ready “within six months, in time to put it forward to donor states.”
