Srinagar : An earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale with its epicentre in Afghanistan rocked Kashmir Sunday evening, triggering panic among people here but there was no report of any damage to life and property.
“The epicentre of the tremor was in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan. It measured 4.8 on the Richter scale,” Kashmir met department director N.P. Bhatnagar told IANS.
Srinagar residents ran out of their homes in panic as the tremor shook structures in this summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir.
