Kabul : Afghan President Hamid Karzai is set to leave for a two-day official visit to neighbouring Pakistan later on Wednesday.
He will be accompanied by some of his cabinet members and senior officials of the foreign office. The president, during his stay in the Pakistani capital of Islamabad, will meet his counterpart Pervez Musharraf, caretaker Prime Minister Mohammad Mian Soomro and other members of his cabinet.
Karzai is visiting Pakistan at a time when the country is preparing for general elections, slated for January 8.
Pakistan is in the grip of the worst-ever suicide and bombing attacks of music centres in the northwestern parts of that country.
Around 60 people were killed as a suicide bomber, targeting a former interior minister of Pakistan, detonated explosives fastened to his body inside a mosque during Eid Al-Adha prayer.
