Musharraf warns trouble-makers

Rawalpindi : President Pervez Musharraf on Saturday said miscreants and anti-social elements cannot be allowed to damage lives and property of the common man in the guise of protest as the entire nation is mourning the tragic death of Benazir Bhutto.

Benazir Bhutto was assassinated in the city of Rosalinda after she addressed a huge election rally.

Hundreds of vehicles, patrol stations, railway tracks and shops were burnt or damaged across the country over the last two days in protest against the assassination of the two-time prime minister.

The President said the sympathies of the entire nation are with the bereaved family, leadership and workers of Pakistan People Party in their hour of grief, Radio Pakistan reported.

President Musharraf warned that the elements who are exploiting the situation by looting and plundering would be dealt with sternly and the measures would be taken to ensure safety and security of the people.

He mentioned the problems being faced by the people as the chemist, bakeries, grocery stores and petrol and gas pumps have been closed due to the fear of the hooligans and looters.
