Klich told the TVN24 television station the new troop deployment would start between April and May of 2008.

He also said almost half of that number of soldiers will work in maintaining eight helicopters, to send them to that Asian central State.

Although the Polish government is increasing its presence in Afghanistan, it announced it would withdraw in October its troops from Iraq, where it keeps 900 military agents.

Withdrawal of those forces from Iraq is among the electoral promises by Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
