Thiruvananthapuram : After making helmets compulsory for those driving two wheelers, the Kerala government Wednesday announced that wearing seat belts will be made mandatory for four wheeler passengers from August.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the state's home minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, education minister M.A. Baby and transport minister Mathew T. Thomas in the wake of a series of road accidents in Kerala.
Those caught talking on the mobile phone while driving would be fined Rs. 1,000.
