Srinagar : Defence Minister A.K. Antony Friday visited the Aman Setu bridge on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Uri sector, and was waved to by Pakistani army officials from the other side.
Antony walked the Indian half of the bridge as Pakistani army officials warmly waved to him and shot the scene with video cameras, sources told IANS.
Sources also said that the Indian side had arranged for distributing sweets to the Pakistani Rangers, who control the other part of the Aman Setu bridge. But the exchange of sweets was cancelled at the last minute because of the defence minister's tight schedule.
In the evening, state Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and Antony attended a dinner hosted by Lt. Gen. A.S. Sekhon, the GOC of the Indian Army's 15 Corps. Army chief J.J. Singh also attended the dinner.
On Saturday, the defence minister is meeting other mainstream politicians and a section of the prominent local citizens to know their views of relocation of troops in the hinterland.
