Srinagar : Chief of National Conference, Dr Farooq Abdullah, strongly denied the reports in a section of the press that he had approached UPA for his nomination as the Vice President of India. Such reports are baseless, incorrect, misleading and politically motivated, said Dr
Abdullah in his statement. He said that these reports are fabricated by those who are badly shaken by his public resolve announced last year to lead the National Conference in the next assembly elections. He claimed media and some news papers who are very close to
political ideologies of certain political groups within the state by the parties who are frustrated and see a big defeat in the next election.
N.C patron Dr. Abdullah added that such misleading reports are to create confusion in the minds of the people of the state and this will not make any difference and he will serve the people and N.C within the state of J&K.
Dr. Abdullah also asserted that neither he nor any member of his family had approached anybody for his nomination as Vice President. On contrary, he stated that he was proposed for this post by some political parties of the country but he refused to accept this offer.
It was a unanimous decision by the party working committee chaired by President Omar Abdullah and this decision was taken to strengthen the secular forces in the country so that all countrymen can live in peace and harmony and the objective of this decision was not to please any individual or party. Dr. Abdullah was referring to the Party's decision to vote for Pratibha Patil.
