MP exports potatoes, onions, spices worth over Rs. 45.59 cr.

Bhopal, June 4: Potatoes, onions, garlic, spices and wheat costing over Rs. 45.59 crore have been exported from Agri Export Zone (AEZ) of Madhya Pradesh during the last financial year 2006-07. These items have been exported to the countries which include Malaysia, Dubai, Sri Lanka, Mauritius, Bangladesh and Sharjah.

    An official Press release claimed that Madhya Pradesh is the first state of India which has got maximum sanction from the Union Government for export of items from AE Zone. In all five AEZs of the state have been accorded permission to export goods to the international market.
    The AEZ earmarked for export of potato, onion and garlic includes Indore, Dhar, Ujjain, Dewas, Mandsaur, Neemuch, Ratlam and Shajapur districts. The zone has registered export of potato worth Rs. 423 lakh, onion worth Rs. 414 lakh and garlic worth Rs. 449 lakh to Malaysia, Dubai, Sri Lanka, Mauritius, Bangladesh, Sharjah etc.
    Similarly, the AEZ, set up for spices export includes districts of Ujjain, Mandsaur, Neemuch, Ratlam, Shajapur, Rajgarh and Guna. Coriander worth Rs. 1570 lakh and fenugreek worth Rs. 993 lakh has been exported to Dubai, Canada, United Kingdom and South Africa.
    The AEZ, set up for wheat has exported wheat to the tune of Rs. 710 lakh to the countries of Malaysia, Dubai, Sri Lanka etc. This zone includes in itself districts of Indore, Dhar, Ujjain, Dewas, Mandsaur, Neemuch, Ratlam, Shajapur, Guna, Bhopal, Sehore, Vidisha, Raisen, Hoshangabad, Harda and Narsinghpur.
