Currently, the Parashar lake, located on a meadow at 2670 metres above sea level in the Mandi valley, some 160 km from here, is accessible by a winding mountain road for about eight months and remains closed for the rest of the year because of snowfall.

Many people believe that the lake and the nearby pagoda shaped temple are best seen in the winter after a snowfall.

Officials of the state tourism department said the construction of the helipad is likely to be completed by the end of the year and then the destination will be accessible round the year.

The construction of the helipad will cost about Rs. 1 million and work on the site will begin soon, said the officials.
