New Delhi : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati Friday denied media reports that she aspired for the prime ministerial post and said she had "never given any interview" where she had made such a statement.
"I have never given any interview in which I said that I aspired for prime ministership. I request the media to exercise caution and cross check with me and my Bahujan Samaj party (BSP)," she said in a statement.
"The media has a responsibility to fulfill and keeping its self-esteem, it should always ensure that whatever they publish does not affect their credibility," she said.
Mayawati said "the media should exercise caution and restraint."
