Thackeray filed the petition in the high court after the Supreme Court refused to entertain his petition ten days ago. The apex court had directed Thackeray to approach the high court against the Jamshedpur court order.

On May 23, a Jamshedpur court issued an arrest warrant against Thackeray in a case filed by a local lawyer for his provocative speech against outsiders, particularly Biharis. Thackeray wants the case to be transferred from Jamshedpur to Mumbai.

On March 9, Thackeray had spoken about Biharis who go to Maharashtra in search of jobs. Sudhir Kumar, a Jamshedpur lawyer, filed a petition against Thackeray in the court. The court had summoned Thackeray but he failed to appear for the hearing.

Thackeray's petition will come up for hearing in the high court June 15. In his petition, Thackeray has sought relief from the arrest warrant and transfer of the case from Jamshedpur to Mumbai.
