2 HM Comndrs surrendered in Doda

Jammu, June 15(NAK): Two top Hizbul Mujahideen militants surrendered before the police along with arms and ammunition in Doda district, official sources told News Agency of Kashmir.

The two Hizbul Mujahideen commanders laid down their arms before Deputy Inspector General of Police Doda-Udhampur range L Mohanty, here today, sources said.

They identified the surrendered militants as Ghulam Hassan alias Jaffar son of Abdul Lassa and Abdul Gani alias Younis son of Abdul Satar.

The militant was active since 1995 and was presently Deputy District Commander of HM, Senior Superintendent of Police Doda Manhor Singh said adding Younis was area commander of the same militant outfit.

The militants handed over one AK, 3 magazines, 2 grenades, 1 thrower, 3 shells and 2 walky-talkies at the time of surrender.

Numbers of militants have surrendered before the police and security forces in Doda district since last six months, which include some top commanders.

Jammu and Kashmir government has formulated a special surrender policy which includes monetary benefits like Rs 1, 50,000 as Fixed Deposit Receipt, stipend worth Rs 2000 per month upto a period of three years and the cost of weapons surrendered by them besides vocational trainings and facilitation in rehabilitation.
