Cairo : An inter-Palestinian dialogue as called by Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak is the only means to halt the current standoff in the Palestinian territories, said Arab League (AL) Secretary General Amr Moussa on Wednesday.

Mubarak's call was meant to close Palestinian ranks through dialogue and to reach a joint Palestinian stand, the Egyptian official MENA news agency quoted Moussa as saying.

President Mubarak called in his speech at the inauguration of the four-way Sharm el-Sheikh summit on Monday for resuming inter-Palestinian dialogue in a bid to stop the Palestinian "fratricide" and promote an atmosphere to revive the Mideast peace process.

Meanwhile, Hamas spokesman Ayman Taha on Wednesday said the movement is prepared to enter into an inter-Palestinian dialogue without preconditions.

The spokesman said Ismail Haneya, the prime minister of the unity government sacked by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas had called for starting dialogue on a no-loser-no-winner basis.
