Ranchi : The Congress and opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Jharkhand have accused the ministers in the state's Madhu Koda led government of indulging in corruption.
"This is true that some ministers take money to work for the people," Jharkhand Congress president Pradeep Balmuchu said Saturday.
"Our party has informed the central leaders about the activities of the ministers," said Balmuchu, whose party is supporting the Koda led government in the state.
Criticising chief minister Madhu Koda of failing to reign in corruption, BJP state president P.N. Singh said, "Koda talks about corruption and compares it with cancer but then why is he not acting?
"If he finds himself unable to curb the menace as the chief minister, why is he heading the government?"
A few days ago, Koda admitted that corruption had gripped the state like cancer. He had also announced that separate cells would be set up in all departments and in each district to check corruption.
Congress legislator Niel Tirkey had earlier demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the alleged illegal earnings of Jharkhand's rural development minister Enos Ekka.
Reacting to the charge, Ekka said, the "CBI inquiry should be ordered against all the people's representatives – whether they are legislators, ministers or chief ministers. Only independent ministers should not be targeted."
Ekka is an independent legislator.
Another independent legislator and urban development minister Harinarayan Rai said: "Since inception of the state corruption is prevailing. All the political parties should come together and find out ways to end corruption."
