Malaysian students abroad must network

Nusa Dua : Malaysian students abroad, including over 3,600 in Indonesia, should forge networking with their local acquaintances as this will prove beneficial in the globalisation era, Deputy International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah said.

He said such a move was important for the country’s future leaders as huge opportunites in globalisation could be tapped through close relations with those beyond one’s own geographical boundaries.

Networking for social, political, diplomatic and economic purposes would add value to those studying overseas as they are moulded to join a pool of high-quality human capital, he said during a meeting with members of the Bali Umno Club pro-tem committee here Tuesday night.

Ahmad Husni, who led a delegation of Malaysian parliamentarians to the 116th meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, spent about two hours with the students, most of whom are studying medicine at Udhayana University here.

He promised to work on getting funds to enable the students to undertake social projects in Bali such as establishing mini libraries at mosques and giving tuition classes for children from needy families.
