Jaipur : Rajasthan continued to sizzle under heat wave conditions with day temperatures Friday hovering between 42 and 45 degrees Celsius, much above normal, forcing people to remain indoors.
"It is becoming really unbearable, even desert coolers are failing to bring down the temperatures indoors," said Shobhan Singh, a local resident.
The scorching heat had foreign tourists in real hard time. "This is my second visit to Jaipur during this time of the year. I have never experienced this kind of heat earlier. I am planning to cut short my tour and go back to my country soon," said Joan, a tourist from Britain.
Tour operator Navendu Goswami said the heat has adversely affected the tourist business. "Because of heat there have been some cancellations. We are constantly getting queries from overseas asking whether it is the right time to travel. We usually say no to them."
With the metrological department predicting no change in temperatures over Saturday there would be no chance of any respite from the heat wave conditions.
"The heat wave would continue over parts Rajasthan with isolated dust storms and thunderstorm likely over east Rajasthan in the next 24 hours," a senior met official said.
State capital Jaipur was hot at 43 degrees Celsius, around five degrees above normal for this time of the year. Bikaner was 44 and Jodhpur 43 degrees Celsius. Ajmer and Dabok were at 42 degrees each.
