Delhi Police Friday arrested the three – Deepak, Tenjing Zangpo and Sandeep – from Civil Lines in north Delhi.

Deepak hails from Nepal while Zangpo and Sandeep belong to Himachal Pradesh and Delhi respectively, police said.

According to police, two antique idols – one of Lord Ganesha and the other female deity Tara Devi in dancing posture – were recovered from their possession.

"The idol of Lord Ganesha is about 1,800 years old while that of Tara Devi is dated to the eight century," Additional Commissioner of Police Muktesh Chander said.

Acting on a secret tip-off that the trio would come to Civil Lines area to sell these rare artefacts, a trap was laid to arrest the accused.

"During interrogations it was revealed that Deepak brought the idols from Nepal," he added.
