Tiruchi: A large number of Wakf’s properties has been encroached upon and put it to personal use in Tamil Nadu. This was statted by chairman of the Tamil Nadu Wakf Board, Mr. S. Hyder Ali on Sunday.
Mr. Ali stated that the Board has started the task of collecting details of encroached properties which will be brought to the attention of the state government and will need its help to reclaim these properties.
He alleged that it is failure of the revenue officials that despite court orders they have not removed encroachments.
According to Sachar Committee’s report, encroached waqf’s properties are estimated to be valued Rs. 6,000 crore nation-wide.
