Jammu : A police officer was killed in a gunbattle with terrorists in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir Wednesday evening.
Senior Superintendent of Police of Doda Manohar Singh said that Deputy Superintendent of Police Shailey Singh was killed in the shootout with militants in a densely forested area of Udrana in Bahderwah, about 230 km north of Jammu.
Shailey Singh was responsible for various successful operations against militants especially in the hilly areas of the region, Manohar Singh said.
Bhaderwah is the native area of Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad.
Last week, militants had shot at and critically wounded Deputy Superintendent of Police Jugal Manhas in Mendhar in the border district of Poonch.
