Ajax go to top of Dutch Ere Divisie football

Amsterdam, Nov 5 (Xinhua) Ajax Amsterdam registered a 4-2 victory against Roda JC Kerkrade to move to the top of the Dutch Ere Divisie football league.

With Sunday’s win, Ajax have 24 points from 10 matches, the same as Feyenoord, but top the table on goal difference. PSV Eindhoven slipped to third on 23 points following a 1-2 defeat at Heerenveen Saturday.

Klaas Jan Huntelaar scored from a George Ogararu cross midway through the first half to give Ajax the lead and Luis Suarez restored the advantage minutes before the interval after Bernard Lamah equalised for Roda.

Albert Luque made it 3-1 directly after the break but with 14 minutes remaining Anouar Hadouir pulled one back for Roda.

Huntelaar missed an 80th-minute penalty although teammate Dennis Rommedahl made it 4-2 in injury time.

Feyenoord struggled in the first half of their match against Graafschap Doetinchem, but sealed a 2-0 victory after the break.

Jonathan de Guzman headed home a fine cross from Tim de Cler before Roy Makaay added a penalty.

Twente Enschede beat neighbours Heracles Almelo 3-0 to move to fourth in the table on 18 points. Romano Denneboom opened the scoring after 23 minutes, while Blaise N’Kufo and Orlando Engelaar struck in the final 10 minutes to seal the victory.

Matthew Amoah scored 15 minutes before time to earn NAC Breda a 1-0 win at Utrecht.

Vitesse Arnhem and FC Gronigen played out a goalless draw.
