Tehran : Iran’s chief nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili will meet with European Union(EU) foreign policy chief Javier Solana in November on remaining issues regarding Iran’s controversial nuclear program, the official IRNA news agency reported on Sunday.
During a telephone conversation between Jalili and Solana, the two sides agreed to hold the next round of talks in late November, deputy head of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Javad Vaeedi was quoted as saying.
It was also agreed that deputies from the two sides will hold talks ahead of the meeting between Jalili and Solana, Vaeedi said.
Jalili, who was appointed the chief nuclear negotiator succeeding his predecessor Ali Larijani in October, met with Solana for the first time in October in Rome for talks described by both sides as “constructive.”
The United States and some other Western countries fear Iran may try to develop atomic bombs under a civilian cover, however, Tehran insists its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes only.
The UN Security Council has already issued two sanction resolutions against Iran’s nuclear program since last December, but both of them failed to persuade the Islamic Republic to give up uranium enrichment work.
