Rajasthan hosts global stone forum

Jaipur : The Centre for Development of Stones (CDOS) and the Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corp (RIICO) hosted the second edition of Global Stone Technology and Business Forum here Thursday.

This was part of a series of initiatives taken by the state government to build the brand equity of Rajasthan’s stone globally. The forum was jointly organised by the CDOS, RIICO and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Ficci).

Inaugurating the function, Narpat Singh Rajvi, minister of industries, said: “The state government is looking at adopting and incorporating the latest technologies in stone mining and processing and actively exploring opportunities for public-private partnerships. The government is equally focused on protecting the environment and is committed to safeguard the rights of the local population which survives on this trade.”

Laxmi Narayan Dave, minister of mines, said: “The government of Rajasthan is committed to promote environment-friendly technologies. The mining policy of the state lays emphasis on rightsizing mining leases and promoting green practices.”

Sunil Arora, chairman of CDOS and RIICO, said: “Our vision is to take the stone industry a step further to new horizons.”

The forum aims to provide appropriate exposure to the Indian stone industry to match global standards and provide them a platform for the future growth of business. The forum is likely to serve as a major landmark in overall growth of the Indian stone industry.
