Agra : Two days after the bomb blasts that rocked Uttar Pradesh, security arrangements has been beefed up in the city of the Taj Mahal.
Concern over terrorist activities is writ large all over.
“With a massive tourist influx, we have to step up vigil and streamline intelligence network,” S N Singh, inspector general police (Kanpur zone), said after a thorough security review Saturday.
He said that there was urgent need for all round alert and vigil and there should be no laxity whatsoever after the blasts.
Singh said night patrolling should be intensified and the working of the local police stations improved.
After a visit to the historic town of Fatehpur Sikri, he told newspersons that the security arrangements in the town would be increased and a fresh “blueprint” of the security arrangements had been sent to the state government for approval.
Meanwhile, religious places in Mathura and Vrindavan and Sufi shrines have been covered under a thick security blanket. Security has also been beefed up in railway stations and the malls in Agra.
