Militants launched an attack on a security check post in Tull area of North Waziristan with rockets and small arms early Wednesday morning, triggering retaliation from the security forces, Arshad was quoted by News Network International (NNI) news agency as saying.

The clashes between security forces and militants lasted more than three hours, leaving 10 pro-Taliban militants and two security force soldiers dead and another four soldiers injured, Arshad said.

The law and order situation in tribal areas deteriorated after local militants in North Waziristan scrapped a peace accord with the government in July.
